Worthy Lover

We have a new horse.

--->

Both of you are probably thinking, "Sweet, Bird, what is it, 3 year old colt, 4 year old filly, blazing speed, competant runner?" None of the above I'm afraid. We claimed a new superstar, goes by the name of Worthy Lover. The 6 year old gelding out of no name sire Rizzihas showed hints of budding mediocrity in his dozen or so career races, but nothing to write home about, and certainly nothing to take home with you.

We had Snitch, whose spilled secret was evidently that she couldnt win, and Catch My Cat, who everyone caught, and now we have Worthy Lover, a.k.a "The Turtle". The Turtle finished 7th in a race of 9 as the 4th betting choice earlier this week at Aqueduct. The blinding fury has subsided at this point and I'm left with dull red and yellow spots in my vision.

There are times in life when you have to trust people who know better than you. These people include your doctor, your designated driver, and the cow who reveals the expiration date of your milk. Add horse trainer to the list as I'm now wondering what Mr. Levine sees in our new hard shelled amphibian of a race horse. I might add that the top 3 betting choices, all younger than 6, were not claimed. No sense in getting discouraged though. I'm going to try to keep an open mind. Who knows, maybe we have the Strom Thurmond of turtles. If we do maybe I can get a win picture to put next to the 2 open spots on my wall.

Sorry to hear about Barbaro. Auburn John must have picked him to beat this injury.
